Importance of the celebration of Christian holidays in a secularized society

The study deals with the meaning of celebrating Christian holidays in a secularized society. The theoretical part characterizes the celebrating of feasts in human life in general. Further, it describes the liturgical year, with paying closer attention to two main Christian feasts: Christmas and Easter. First, the liturgical celebrations are described, and then the study focuses on celebrating these feasts from the point of view of folk traditions. The other half of theoretical part focuses on the secularization, its historic causes and changes in the form of celebrating holidays in today's secularized society. The practical part describes the qualitative research carried out in the form of interviews. The purpose was to investigate what the meaning of celebrating Christian holidays is there for people who are not practicing Christians. This survey has contributed to the better understanding of the meaning and manner of celebrating Christian feasts in secular families in today's society.
Calendar across history; author's calendar

Theoretical-practical thesis which focuses on the historical development of a calendar and on its own realization. Theoretical part starts with a definition of a term calendar, characterizes basic units used for compiling calendars and also describes divisions of calendar systems. Subsequently the thesis pays attention to the oldest calendars, from all sorts of prehistoric time recording devices, to the highly developed Mayan systems. There is also an outline of the development of calendars, which are used in the modern era. In the practical part the author deals with the design and the realization of her own calendar. Thesis is accompanied by picture attachments and photo documentation.
Forms of the Popular Piety in Selected Parishes of Prague 9

The thesis concerns an aspect of folk piety, its forms, folk traditions and customs, and defines their development over the centuries. Further the thesis describes the folk piety in the context of church documents, and its role within the liturgical year. In the practical section, there is a description of specific forms of folk piety in three parishes of Prague 9. The research is based on records in parish chronicles, interviews, journals and other resources. The aim of this thesis is a comparison of forms, development and importance of the folk piety in these parishes. Finally, it considers the importance of folk piety in our society.

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of the written inheritance of the priest Martin Vích. It analyses and focuses on his written preparation for the preaching during liturgical year. The goal of this thesis is to bring a view about his preaching activity, and to get his characteristics, interesting images and ideas. The main section of this thesis is a practical part focused on an analysis of the preserved preaching in Christmas time, Easter time and in liturgical interim. The preserved preparation for the sacramental and funeral preaching is attached in conclusion. The thesis is also focused on a comparison with other preachers.
Motivation to the folk art by creative technics in free time education during liturgical year for older school age.

My thesis is about traditional celebrating of feasts and holidays during ecclesiastical year. It introduce us art techniques which is connected with these dates. At the start we familiarize us folklore and folk art and it shows us differences between folk art and city art. Next chapter is about ecclesiastical year and about important dates in church. At the next part we can read about time of pubescence, its characteristics and progress what the teenager has to go through, and with the typical behaving and work of these young people. The practical part leads us through the innovative art techniques and introduces us traditions and customs on our villages. We can also read here some facts about celebrating feasts in other parts of Europe and World.
Catechetic Activities during the Liturgical Year with Younger School Children in the České Budějovice Diocese

The dissertation deals with the matter of catechetic activities during the liturgical year with younger school children applied to the activities in the vicarages of the České Budějovice diocese. The theoretical framework defines the liturgical year and characterizes its individual parts as well as its periodical and linear time systems. The second part deals with sensorial, motional and intellectual qualities of younger school children from the points of view of the evolutional psychology and religious education. The third part describes catechetics, catechetic activities, catechesis and its goals, definition and substantiality. The practical part contains a questionnaire carried out within the eleven vicarages of the České Budějovice diocese through vicarage catechetic representatives finding out the particular catechetic activities in their vicarage. The evaluation and concluding assessment with the sample of documentation of the activities during the liturgical year in the Town of České Budějovice vicarage concludes the dissertation.
Liturgical Year and Education of Christian Education at Kindergartens

This work is focused on children at preschool age from these points of view: biology, psychology, sociology and pedagogy with the consideration to the evolution of child´s personality at kindergarten. The work results from the General Educational Program for Preschool Education at kindergartens which wants to extend and deepen single topics about the spiritual factors of the child. In practical part there are proposals of topics for the work with preschool children for three-year period. These topics relate to single periods of liturgical and calendar year. In the form of game the children are approaching to single periods during the school year by the help of symbols which are typical for each period.
The National Customs Relating the Liturgical Year within the Region of Ostrožsko

The thesis focuses on the national customs and their interrelation with the liturgical calendar. My aim is to describe and reflect on each of the customs and traditions, those still kept existing and also those these days reminded only by word of mouth within the liturgical year. The region of Ostrozsko is introduced in the first part. There are highlighted basic facts and brief history of single villages in this area. The second part of my thesis aims to define liturgics and also significant feasts of liturgical year are closely described here. Both the first and second part interrelate in the third chapter. I focus on religious aspects of the feasts, how the traditons and customs complement one another relating religion of this area. I also refer to customs which did not survive and on the other hand those that are still popular within the whole region.
